workshops

Go Teach workshops are designed to introduce Canadians to Teaching English as a Foreign Language -- in context and by making use of activities and exercises used by TEFL professionals in classrooms around the world. The workshops are interactive and empowering and include the following topics and more:

  • The Opportunity to Teach English and Travel the World
  • CLT - an introduction to communicative language teaching
  • Language Awareness - pronunication, vocabulary, grammar
  • Living Abroad - culture shock, expatriate resources, issues for Canadians
  • Teacher Training - certificate courses, in-house programs and more
  • Job Market - where the jobs are, types of positions, types of schools
  • Programs - VSO, WUSC, JET, EPIK and more
  • Teaching - resources, lesson planning and activities

At the end of a Go Teach workshop each participant should:

  • Understand why this opportunity exists and how it applies to them
  • Have a sense of their own ability to seize it
  • Have an improved awareness of English and their ability to use and teach it.
  • Be aware of the all the different avenues and options available to them including teacher training courses, placement programs and self-directed action
  • Have a greater understanding of “living abroad” as opposed to touring or vacationing
  • Have an introductory understanding of how English is taught as a Foreign Language
  • Feel empowered and inspired!

Go Teach TESOL workshops follow a standard timetable, the host institution's schedule permitting. To view the standard timetable, click here.

Post-worshop support from Go Teach includes monthly newsletters and email job support. Participants are also encouraged to make use of Jobs Worldwide, the job search resource section of the Go Teach website.
