ChET Program

The China English Teaching (ChET) Program is a pilot project designed specifically for new teachers. The goal of the program is to provide participants with an opportunity to get their feet wet by providing introductory training and orientation as well as in-service TESOL certification. Program details can be found on Go Teach's job resource website:

The following slideshow is presented to give potential applicants a sense of life in and around Changsha, Hunan, where the majority of the program's placements are located. Applicants selected for interviews will be sent a much more comprehensive .zip package of digital photos and videos to further introduce them to the ChET Program.

Over the past year three former Go Teach workshop participants have gone on their own to teach in and around Changsha, Hunan. Applicants interested in contacting them directly may do so as their individual experiences provide a vital (and varied!) window on living and teaching in China. Needless to say, they are an excellent source of information on the pros and cons of teaching and living in Hunan.

In facilitating the recruitment of participants for the ChET Program, Go Teach's number one commitment is to transparency. We want to give you as much information as possible so your decision to participate is informed and sincere. In contributing to the creation of the program itself, our number one commitment is to professional development. ChET was designed for teachers whose primary goal is learning to teach. Introductory training is provided at the beginning of the contract followed by paid in-service participation in one of two internationally recognized TESOL programs leading to full certification by the end of the contract. Applicants need to be self-starters who are flexible, patient, and adventurous. Think hard about what you want out of a teaching experience before applying to us. Remember as well that you will be participating in a pilot project, a program bound to have its share of hurdles and hiccups.
